This practice focuses on and activates the full range of standing
- Squat = lowest point of standing
- Reach = highest point of standing
Standing = 1 of 3 base postures of a human being (more on 3 base postures here)
Cultivating balance and centering
- Squat posture has a low base for stability
- Reach posture has the smallest surface area to stand on. This activates fine adjustments of your center to achieve more refined balance.
- Doing both posture creates space and ease in normal/neutral standing
Releasing mechanisms
- Squatting is a natural/biological release posture for humans. (Bowel movements in nature.)
- Release capacities of our being are activated with squat posture
- Squat posture compresses your body
- Reach posture elongates your body
- Compressing and elongating your body creates a pump that moves and releases things in your body (and being).

At the beginning and/or end of your day
When you are feeling:
- Stuck
- Tense
- Off balance (in any way)
- A need for space (physically, mentally, emotionally)
Before and/or after workouts
